the objective?
Support for the promotion, creation, strategic direction and operational management of technology platforms and sectoral clusters focused to innovation. Focusing our efforts to ensure its technical, economic and commercial viability in a sustainable way.

Our experience of more than 25 years in the sectors in which we participate allows us to formulate initiatives and practical ideas in the design, strategy, dynamization and comprehensive management of Technology Platforms and Clusters. Always in coordination and under the guidelines of their governing bodies created for this purpose.
We do not only present theoretical ideas, we are committed to long-term results through continuous management with secretariat and technical office functions being part of their organisational structure and providing support to their governing bodies.
What do we do in this area?
Platform objectives
The Technology Platforms are teamwork forums led by the industry which integrates all the agents of a given sector or technology, capable of defining the visión in the medium and long term for that sector or technology and to establish a strategic route in R&D&i.
The purpose of these Platforms are the following:
- Improve business productivity through innovation.
- Identify the scientific and technological infrastructure needs in each sector.
- Promote projects in collaboration between technological agents.
- Collaborate with the different social agents and the Administration.
- Articulate the Spanish representation of the sector in European and international initiatives.
At European level the Technology Platforms (created in the early 2000s) must achieve the following mission to ensure Europe’s future growth:
- Contribute to European competitiveness.
- Encourage Innovation and coordinate public and private investments.
- Focus efforts and reduce fragmentation.
- Contribute to the European Research Area.
- Coordinate community and national policies.
Cluster objectives
The clusters are a group of interrelated companies and institutions geographically concentrated which compete in the same business. Under normal conditions they can group together:
- Companies located at some stages of the value chain.
- Companies producing goods and complementary services.
- Related institutions and organisations: universities, research centres, government agencies, etc.
Being a member of these clusters has several advantages for companies:
- Improvement of the competitive position.
- Access to new markets.
- Access and efficient use of high-cost resources.
- Access and efficient use of complementary resources.
- Increased innovation and technological development.
- Execution in group of shared projects.
- Creation of economies of concentration and location.
- Creation and use of new business.
- Etc.
What do we do in this area?
We are your secretariat / Technical office
To ensure the compliance of the formulated objectives and to provide all the value and long-term results that we mentioned above, the most effective method that we have tested in practice is that artica+i performs the function of Secretariat and Technical Office of the Technological Platform or Cluster.
The responsibilities and tasks are detailed in the following tables.
Economic and administrative management
- Treasury Management and Accounting Management.
- Preparation and implementation of the Annual Income and Expenditure Budgets and the Annual Report of activities linked to the Strategic Innovation Plans.
- Dialogue with suppliers and subcontractors regarding administrative and economic management.
- Support to the government body in all its roles: Drafting and taking Minutes, issuing Certifications, management of the membership file.
Technical management
- Elaboration of Strategic Innovation Plans.
- Management of the entity’s technical activity.
- Dialogue and management of all the usual collaborating entities providing coordination and monitoring of its activity.
- Call for conferences and other informative actions about R&D&i of an informative and formative nature for members. The aim is to promote innovation and technology transfer.
- Preparation and process of applications for possible calls for the Support Programs for Technology Platforms and Clusters.
- Promote and process proposals for participation in R&D&i consortium projects (National or International).
- Monitoring and presentation of the results of the Strategic Innovation Plan: projects mobilised, funding obtained, budget monitoring.
Institutional relations and communication
- Permanent representative at an institutional level with state R&D&i funding entities and others at a regional level.
- Representative with the managers of international financing plans and intermediaries.
- Manage the relationship with equivalent entities from other European or Ibero – American countries with the aim of promoting an international network for sectorial R&D&i.
- Manage the relationship with other Technology Platforms and/or clusters in order to find synergies and optimise resources.
- Manage the institutional relationship with the central offices of related organisations such as CSIC, OTRIS of Universities, business associations, etc.
- Represent the platform and/or cluster and participate as a speaker in the different Forums, Congresses or internal Commissions.
- Propose to the government body new agreements with institutions and entities within the scope of the entity’s activity for their validation and endorsement.
- Communication management.
- Inform the government body of the periodic actions and activities carried out and the financial situation and budgetary control.
